Paul from Auckland, grew up sailing out of Murrays Bay Sailing Club, racing in a number of different classes. He successfully went on to represent NZ in secondary schools championships against Australia. Taking up boat building after leaving school he continued his sailing on keel boats. Paul moved to Bermuda for 10 years working in the marine industry. During this time he raced in Bermuda and on the eastern seaboard of the States on a Farr 40 and Corby 41.5. He also completed the Fastnet on a Swan 47. On return to NZ he spent several years racing on an Orma 60. In 2016 he joined Team New Zealand as shore crew for the last Americas Cup.
