Born in Merano to a family of sailing enthusiasts, Simone’s first regattas were in Malcesine on Lake Garda, where he followed the classic path that from the Optimist class would later lead him to racing on Lasers (4.7, Radial and Standard). Later, deciding to concentrate on his studies, he enrolled in university and graduated to become a lawyer in 2002, leaving the Olympic classes and moving on to sailing Moths. On these boats he achieved excellent results, participating in three world championships (9th, 3rd and 4th place) and in the Foiling Week (2nd place). While coaching the Spanish team in SailGP, he was also involved in the development of the 69F Class. In 2023 Simone joined Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli as coach for the youth and women's teams in view of the Youth and Women's America's Cup to be held in Barcelona 2024. In 2024 he won both the UniCredit Youth America's Cup as coach of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli's youth team and Season 4 of the Sail GP Circuit as coach of Spain SailGP Team.
