THE NEW LUNA ROSSA TP52 LAUNCH IN TRIESTE

On Sunday 13 May at 12.30 the new TP52 “Luna Rossa” will be launched in Trieste, Piazza dell’Unità which it will participate in the first stage of 52 Super Series to be held in Croatia on 21 May.

Luna Rossa is arriving in Trieste at the beginning of May to be set up and to enable the team to complete their training: the launch will be organized by Barcolana as a great festival dedicated to all sailing enthusiasts, who will be able to take part on land along the waterfront but also at sea, approaching Bacino San Giusto on their own sailboats. The event is going to on the Scala Reale, just in front of Piazza dell’Unità, with the participation of the team and local authorities. The event will feature a special guest: the pianist and composer Remo Anzovino. Before the launch a press conference will be held in the building of the Prefettura di Trieste.

Trieste will be able to celebrate and cheer the two local sailors who are part of the America’s Cup team: tactician Vasco Vascotto and young sailor Andrea Tesei, selected within the “New Generation” programme, created to ensure a generation change within Luna Rossa crew.

“We are honoured and pleased to be able to play host to the launch of the TP52 Luna Rossa in Trieste – declared president of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, Mitja Gialuz - Barcolana50 will officially start its promotion with an event that marks the start of a friendship with Luna Rossa. Our regatta has now become the most crowded in the world and this friendship with the Challenger of Record of the next America’s Cup edition is a great promotional kick-off”.

Luna Rossa team will be in Trieste next week in order to be ready for the arrival of the new TP52, which will be rigged and prepared at Porto San Rocco until the launch on 13 May. The boat will then sail to Croatia, where the first stage of the 52 Super Series will be held.

In the week before the launch, Barcolana will organize a series of conferences in the schools of Trieste dedicated to the next America’s Cup and to the Luna Rossa team. Yesterday, president of SVBG Mitja Gialuz, met with the presidents of Trieste’s sailing clubs, to organize meetings with the team and local sailing athletes.
