LUNA ROSSA DAY
Cagliari base hosts a successful Open Day

On August 1st, families, students, and supporters had a unique experience, united by the same desire: to get an up-close look at the world of Luna Rossa, visit the Italian challenger’s base, and take part in the team’s activities.

Participants were divided into groups and guided by team members on a tour to get a deep understanding of how the Italian team works. With their 'Open Day Passport' in hand, they took turns visiting various departments — specially opened for the occasion — and had the opportunity to enter the hangars, the gym where the sailors train, the exclusive hospitality area, and many other spaces usually closed to the public.

The day featured a range of activities, and each stop earned a stamp in the passport to collect memories from the Open Day: knot-tying contests, a visit to the sail loft to learn how sails are repaired and stitched, access to the boat hangar to see the latest-generation foiling hulls up close, a model boat regatta to test sailing skills, and a mini gym training session to understand the physical demands of America’s Cup racing.

During the tour, key moments of a typical day were explained, along with the various skills and responsibilities of the team members. Multimedia stations on sustainability were also set up to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the ocean and marine environment. Before leaving the base, everyone took the opportunity to snap a souvenir photo of this unforgettable day.
