XXXI AMERICA’S CUP: A NEW CHALLENGE

In January 2001 Patrizio Bertelli decided to continue the adventure with Luna Rossa and challenges the Defender Team New Zealand once again in Auckland. However, ITA 74 and ITA 80, the two boats launched in Punta Ala the following year, did not achieve the expected results in the preliminary races.

In 2002 Luna Rossa was eliminated in the semifinals of the Louis Vuitton Cup. The Italian team would return in 2007, when, for the first time in over a century, the Cup would be held in Europe.
